There is a great riff from Seth Godin that uncovers some of the madness going on. His observations are "only" from travel. Imagine some other ares of society that have similar "diseases" – tax authorities, car manufacturers, energy companies, government bodies, etc etc. The stuff Seth uncovers exists everywhere. And we put up with it.
